Happy Easter to everyone! I hope you all enjoy the time off and have some quality time with your friends and family.

The Easter break is a reprieve from the ongoing Federal election.

It was a busy last weekend, as I attended the campaign launches of both Matthew Camenzuli in McMahon and Ben Britton in Whitlam.

Both are now ex-Liberals, who are standing as Independents. Their results in this Federal election will be a gauge of whether conservative, or right-leaning, Independents can leave their mark and succeed in elections.

The more I see of the political parties, the more I believe that they are at the heart of the problem that we have politically in Australia. Political parties stifle excellence and limit the true expression of candidates.

A coalition of Independents may be a way forward. But at this point, the theory needs to be tested in practice, and Matthew and Ben are the guinea pigs. We will have plenty of time to review the drawing board after the election on May 3.

Last weekend also saw the first ever Commanding the Narrative live event, which was organised largely by Jason Strecker. The 2025 Whitlam Community Candidate Forum was a success and my first time moderating a candidate forum and debate. You can watch the replay now on Commanding the Narrative! Thank you also to Chris DeBruyne of Chriscoveries for filming the forum.

Until next week, stay active and never back down!

Many thanks,

Steven Tripp

As stated above, the 2025 Whitlam Community Candidate Forum was a success and a platform for the candidates of Whitlam to express their policies and viewpoints to the electorate.

Participants included Sharon Cousins (One Nation), Jamie Dixon (The Greens), Ben Britton (Independent), Raymond Khoury (Libertarians) and Paddy Moylan (Independent).

Conspicuous by their absence were Nathaniel Smith (Liberal) and Carol Berry (Labor), especially since they had indicated they were interested in attending and Ms. Berry cancelled the morning of the forum.

warringah’s real independent? - with david spratt:

A few weeks ago, I was dreading walking into the polling booth having no one to vote for, just as was the case during the recent Local Government elections. Thankfully, I have come across David Spratt, who will be running as an Independent in Warringah.

Even if you do not live in Warringah, I hope you are interested in my discussion with David. His policy solutions leapt off the screen when I read them on his website and it was great to interview him and flesh them out even more. David’s plans for Australia and Warringah are certainly worth listening to!

Head to the Light Australia Newspaper to read my latest article, where I make the case that Peter Dutton is a far cry from Australia’s Donald Trump.

As I say in the article, Australia is stumbling down a continued path of stale, unimaginative leadership.
